• Kleen-Slate Antimicrobial Film is an adhesive product like transparent packing tape. The film is coated with naturally-occurring mineral ions that destroy microorganism on the top surface of the tape.

• The film is designed to be applied to frequently-touched hard surfaces such as railings, door handles, faucets, buttons, etc. The product can be sized in sheets for larger surfaces such as trays and tables. Custom configuration for elevator buttons, knobs, handles, keyboards, and switches is possible.

• Kleen-Slate Antimicrobial Film is impregnated with safe, non‐toxic, silver and copper ions that have been shown to have antimicrobial properties.

• Testing has shown the silver‐copper antimicrobial compounds used in Kleen-Slate are nontoxic and effective, making the agents perfectly suited for antimicrobial products. The antimicrobial agents are National Science Foundation (NSF)- and U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA)-listed and are registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). They are also listed with the Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association as a cosmetic preservative and have the standard approval in Europe under the Biocidal Products Directive.

How it works


• The cornerstone to the technology is naturally-occurring silver (Ag) and copper (Cu) in ionic form. The delivery system is a zeolite carrier that allows a controlled and effective release of the metallic ions on demand, thus killing and inhibiting the growth of bacteria, mold and fungus and other microbes over long periods of time. Sodium ions from moisture in the environment causes a controlled release of copper and silver ions through ionic exchange producing an antimicrobial surface.

• The silver‐copper zeolite antimicrobial agent is embedded in the film surface. As humidity in the environment naturally interacts with the silver‐copper zeolites, ions are omitted which interact with the cells of microorganisms and interrupt their ability to function or reproduce. This safe and nontoxic release of the ions is continuous and they remain active over long periods of time.

• The antimicrobial compound has been shown to provide antimicrobial efficacy in just a few minutes while maintaining optimal killing and inhibitory performance for months.

• Germs cannot develop resistance to silver and copper ions. There are multiple mechanisms working simultaneously to kill microorganisms.


• Film is easy to fit and apply to commonly-touched surfaces; door push plates, handles, switch covers and outlets, toilet flush levers, etc.

• The film is safe to use around food and in food preparation areas.

• The durable polyethylene film will not crack or peel after application.
